About Us

Welcome to our blog.  We are David and Cindy from Virginia, parents to four wonderful blessings. We have adopted two boys from Taiwan. Our first adoption was completed in 2009. Then, a little over a year later, in November 2010, our adoption agency called and told us our son has a biological baby brother, waiting for his forever family at the same orphanage. We started the process to adopt him and brought our youngest son home in June 2011.

Thank you for all of your prayers for our journey and for our family.

“Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” James 1:27

    Hi guys,

Love the blog. The format is easy on the eye and you present your info. in such a refreshingly clear manner. We look forward to following your journey and can’t wait to eventually see pics of you and your child united as a family.

BTW – where in VA are you? I grew up in Colonial Heights, near Petersburg. My parents are still there.

    Hi Cindy!
Sounds like we have a lot in common. I am also a SAHM with 2 children. We are almost ready to submit our application to FFC. We have finished our letter of introduction and have chosen our photos. I look forward to following your blog. Would love to talk more via email!

I am so excited for you two! As an adopted child myself I know how important a great Mom and Dad can be! I was only 6 days old when I was adopted. Never met my birth parents, never really care to. God sent me to two of the most wonderful parents a child could ask for and I am sure he will bless you new little one the same way. Please keep me posted.

Hi! Congratulations and best of luck! We also are a Kidsave family from last summer who have finally finished all paperwork and are waiting for the guardianship papers and date to arrive of our daughter. We are so excited! We had discussed this for the past 7 years. Me more-so, my husband-lately. So we encourage others to perservere together as it will work out.

  13. Ginny says:

Hi Cindy! I am so thrilled to have found you. We adopted from Liberia and are trying to readopt our son here in VA. We met with an attorney who did some research (she hasn’t done many readopts I guess) and has told us that we will need a new homestudy before we can re adopt!! This seems crazy to me. Already been there done that…If you can give me any advice, I would truly appreciate it! We are in Stafford County. Thank you in advance, and have a great Thanksgiving!

Hi, this is totally random…but I’ve been stalking your trip posts and wondering if the exofficio underwear really dry faster than regular underwear??? Thanks for sharing so much info!

  15. Cindy says:

Yes, they do dry much faster..and they are surprisingly pretty comfortable, too. Our biggest problem on both trips to Taiwan was finding quick-drying socks – our socks took forever to dry!

  16. Brenda says:

You were wondering about whether Jeremy Lin will be a good role model for your sons. Check out this article: http://www.jeremylintastic.com/jeremy-lin-bio/jeremy-lin-humility-and-his-christian-faith.php We will be following him, too, as our Taiwanese son comes home this year (Lord willing.)

  17. Lauren says:

Hello, My husband and I are from Maryland and are VERY interested in adopting in Taiwan! Any information you could provide would be awesome! Thank you!!!

  18. Brenda Dodd says:

I wanted to let you know how helpful your blog has been to us. We just received our travel dates about 3 days ago, and we have less than 3 weeks before we leave to pick up our son in Taiwan. I had saved a bunch of your blogs that came via e-mail before your second trip to Taiwan, and they are sure coming in handy now! We are headed for Taroko Gorge before Gotcha Day and I’m scouring your posts now for hints!

  19. Laura says:

Hello! My husband and I are considering adopting a child from Taiwan through For Every Child. I would LOVE to talk to you. Please email if you are willing: wisfla@yahoo.com I would love to hear any comments/concerns with your journey to Taiwan with For Every Child. How was the agency to work with? Hope you will contact me.

  20. Mandy says:

Hi from KY! We are starting the paperchase for an older toddler from Taiwan (4-5 years at placement). Curious if you know of anyone that has adopted an older child from Taiwan. I would LOVE to talk to someone who has walked this road…it seems rare?

  21. Kelly Hamlon says:

I love wandering around this site to get ideas for my kids. I found a great book by Kim Jenkins on Amazon that helps kids understand what their first trip on a plane will be like. Here is a link in case anyone has a nervous child getting ready for their first flight. http://amzn.com/1494751852
