Due to a reservation mix-up, we had to make a new hotel booking for our stay in Taipei for these first few days. Many hotels were unavailable because of this weekend’s Dragon Boat Festival and a huge technology conference in Taipei this week. Thanks to TripAdvisor.com, Dave was able to find a hotel in Taipei that met our budget and received good reviews from other travelers. We were not sure what to expect when we arrived at the Riviera Hotel, and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of service, the English-speaking staff, and the food.
The breakfast buffet included made-to-order omelets, muffins and pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt, cereal, juice, as well as all the usual Chinese breakfast options. It is probably one of the best breakfast buffets we have had in all the hotels we have stayed in Taiwan (this is our fifth hotel we have used). I would definitely stay here again. There are two drawbacks, but they are minimal: it is about a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest MRT (subway), but it is walkable; and there are not many restaurants and stores within close proximity. But there are 2-3 restaurants in the hotel.
The hotel also features an eco-friendly rooftop with a view of the city skyline. Here are a few photos of the hotel.
