We are keeping the US Postal Service in business these days. I am eagerly awaiting an express mail delivery today, which contains our authenticated passport copies from TECRO (Taipei Economic Cultural Representative Office in DC). I have been checking the tracking number from the self-addressed envelope I gave TECRO earlier this week, and it finally showed up on the “grid” last night. Once I receive the documents, the kids and I will be heading off to FedEx to ship it off to the orphanage in Taiwan. They are waiting on this paperwork to complete our son’s passport application.
Meanwhile, our older son’s Virginia Certificate of Foreign Birth arrived in the mail yesterday. This means we can now start the process of changing his name on his Social Security card, his Certificate of Citizenship, our health insurance, etc. It is such a relief to finally have this document in hand – it will make it much easier whenever his birth certificate is requested, rather than just showing copies of our paperwork from Taiwan.
