Pink notice from USCIS

Posted: February 1, 2011 in Adoption

We received a pink notice from USCIS. I knew as soon as I saw the envelope in the mailbox that it was a request for more information. We received a similar notice once before, the last time we adopted. This notice was requesting additional information in our home study. The notice also asked for a copy of our home study agency’s license. The agency license is not listed as a required document on the I-600A application instructions. I assume with the changes to process applications through a central office, the document is now required to verify the legitimacy of the social worker’s credentials. I hope to get the  documents in the mail to them later this week, and hopefully our application will soon be moving forward again. Stay tuned. . .

  1. with homestudies here, and for both our adoptions, the lisence and social worker card notoraized copies are part of our homestudy. So I am not sure if it is something new or just something that is usually included and as an oversight was not perhaps this time. Good thing about request for more info, they are workin on your case! 🙂 BIG HUGS

  2. Cindy says:

Hi Tami – When we submitted our home studies to our agency for the orphanage we included two copies of the license, too. Virginia doesn’t include the license as part of the home study but I am guessing you are right, and it is not listed as a separate document requirement because other states automatically include it with the home study. We mailed off all the new documents yesterday and I hope we will hear something soon. And you’re right…the good news is someone at USCIS is looking at our paperwork 🙂
