Hello again and Happy New Year! We celebrated our newest little guy’s first birthday a couple of months ago, where he met many of his aunts, uncles and cousins. Our little guy is now walking – he took his first steps in November and is now getting to be fast enough to keep up with his older sister and brother. I am getting used to having three kids in tow on my errands, and often look like a mama duck with her ducklings tagging along, everyone holding hands as we cross parking lots.
My mind today is on the devastation in Haiti. Our adoption agency, For Every Child Adoption Services, has a Haiti adoption program. They work with three orphanages in Haiti, all near the epicenter of the earthquake. Here is an excerpt of an update I received today from our agency:
“We work with an organization in Haiti called Foye, who has 3 orphanages in Haiti housing over 300 children from all ages. We are desperately trying to receive word on how the children in the orphanages are doing and the care givers that work to take care of these children every day. We have heard from a 3rd party that the infant/ toddler orphanage is still standing but have received no word on the other two that are very close to the children’s hospital that collapsed.” – Update from our adoption agency, January 13, 2009
Please pray for the people of Haiti, for the workers and the children in these orphanages, and for aid workers seeking to help the victims. Samaritan’s Purse sent a team to Haiti this afternoon, along with a plane full of supplies to help provide clean water, shelter, medical aid, and most importantly, hope to the people of Haiti. Our adoption agency is collecting supplies to send to Haiti, as well as tax-deductible monetary donations which will go towards supplies to help the orphanages.
