One Year Waiting

It has been one year since we went on the wait list with our agency to adopt from Taiwan.  We are one year closer to meeting our child.  It’s hard to believe so much time has already gone by – seems like it was just yesterday that we were meeting with our social worker for the first time to complete our home study.  In the last year, we have followed the journeys of many families as they have traveled to Taiwan and met their new little ones for the first time – thank goodness for adoption blogs, or I would be lost and lonely on this adoption journey!  We still have several months ahead of us before we receive a referral, and then several more months before we will be able to travel to Taiwan to complete the adoption.  It’s all in God’s perfect timing, and we will be patient and wait on Him.

Congratulations on reaching this milestone. While it may seem that you are “empty handed”, I believe that you’ve grown, become more prepared for your child, and that God is also preparing that child for you. As you ask and seek, He will give you peace.

  2. Best wishes. I hope your wait is not much longer, but know it will be totally worth it in the end.

I don’t know if “congratulations” is the right word in this situation, but it certainly is appropriate for the great patience you’ve demonstrated and perspective you’ve gained during the wait. Here’s to hearing some good news soon!

  4. Hi Cindy,

God has used this year to grow you in so many ways. Although I have only been following you a couple of months, I see God’s Love, Patience, Grace, and Meekness throughout your posts and comments to others.

You are one year closer, and just as many have encouraged you, know that you are that same encouragement to me! I will be praying that it’s weeks and not months before you get that referral! luv you!

Wow, one year is huge! This process is long and sometimes really frustrating. It helps to know we are not alone and that we can all cheer each other on. Great milestone to have under your belt!

Hey hon. Hang in there! I am so glad that the time has flown by for you. We have been waiting already 6 months since our referral and I know that God is working. THAT is all that keeps me moving forward. We are hoping and praying for all in the waiting ranks to get referrals sooner than later hon. You are on our hearts and minds!

  8. p.s. The Well-Trained Mind is a good one! The Susan Wise Bauer’s Story of the World series is fabulous for Elem History. We use Tapestry of Grace for our family. 3rd grade-8th. We have used it for 3 years & love it! Enjoy the book!

  9. prayin that God brings you the child for you soon! I have to tell you it is all worth it when you have that little one in your arms!

I could not agree with you more about the adoption blog world! Here’s hoping and praying that 2009 is your year (or how about sooner?!) for miracles to happen…
    Be blessed,
    Courtney
